How long have you been managing property lettings?
This holiday letting business started about 50 years ago in the mid-1960s trading as ‘Perranporth Accommodation Bureau’ and was the first business of this type in the area, making us the most long standing holiday letting agent in Perranporth. Over the decades the company has changed ownership and occasionally its name until the mid-1990s when it became known as A K Holidays which were the initials of the owner at that time. Our family took ownership of A K Holidays in 2000, tweaking the name slightly to Around Kernow Holidays.

On average, we aim to let a new property for approxImately 25 weeks during the first year.
When do you advise that I take holidays in my property?
It’s worth considering the time of the year and the rental prices for that week. If you’re looking to maximise your income then taking holiday out of season is advised, though it’s completely up to you.
Is there a particular type of mortgage I need if I’m looking to let my property for self-catering purposes?
‘Holiday Let’ Mortgages are available. For this kind of issue we recommend speaking to your financial advisor.
How long will it take for my property to show on your website and be in the brochure?
We update our brochure once yearly, with a view to reaching new customers around New Year. Properties will be live online within 24 hours of contract completion.
Do I still have to pay business rates if my property is let for under 140 days of the year?
A property is classed as self-catering for the time it is available to let for not the days that it is actually let for. You will still be liable to pay business tax.
