July is when Perranporth really comes alive. Alongside the beach and surf scene, visitors can enjoy live music on the sand, major sporting events, community celebrations, and the build-up to the town’s famous summer carnival season.

Major Music Events

Ministry of Sound Classical – Tuesday 7 July

One of the biggest events of the summer arrives on Perranporth Beach when Ministry of Sound Classical brings a full orchestra, vocalists and dance classics to Cornwall’s most spectacular beach venue. This is expected to be one of the largest ticketed events in Perranporth during 2026.

Queen Tribute Night – Friday 10 July

The UK’s only bar on the beach, The Watering Hole hosts The Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys, one of Britain’s leading Queen tribute acts. Expect all the classics and a packed dancefloor overlooking the sea.

Britpop Revival – Friday 24 July

Kernoasis and That Brit Pop Band go head-to-head in a nostalgic celebration of Oasis, Blur, Pulp and the golden age of 1990s British music. Perfect for anyone who grew up during the Britpop era.

Local Bands & Summer Sessions

July traditionally sees pubs and venues throughout Perranporth hosting additional live music evenings, acoustic sessions and beachside entertainment. Keep an eye on venue noticeboards during your stay as extra performances are often announced at short notice.

Sporting Events

Summer Sunset Half & Long 10 – Saturday 11 July

One of Cornwall’s most scenic running events.

Competitors tackle dramatic coastal routes between Perranporth and Crantock before finishing on or near the beach as the sun begins to set. The event attracts runners from across the South West and creates a fantastic atmosphere around the village throughout the afternoon and evening.

Southwest Series Beach Volleyball – 18–19 July

Perranporth’s beach becomes the venue for a major round of the Southwest Series beach volleyball tour.

  • Saturday: Men’s and Women’s competitions
  • Sunday: Mixed competitions

Visitors can watch high-level beach volleyball free from the sand while enjoying the summer atmosphere.

Perranporth Carnival Week

Although final 2026 timings may still be subject to confirmation, Perranporth Carnival is traditionally one of the highlights of the summer calendar, usually featuring:

  • Carnival procession through the village
  • Fancy dress entries
  • Community stalls
  • Children’s entertainment
  • Live music
  • Family activities
  • Charity fundraising

The carnival attracts both locals and holidaymakers and creates a fantastic community atmosphere.

The Famous Duck Race

A perennial favourite during carnival celebrations is the Duck Race, where hundreds of numbered rubber ducks race for glory while raising money for local causes.

Families love taking part, and it is often one of the most photographed events of carnival week. Check local carnival announcements closer to the event for confirmed 2026 dates and entry details. Usually they are every Wednesday from the middle of July to the end of August.

A great Week to Visit

6–12 July is shaping up to be a busy week of music and activities this July, combining:

  • Ministry of Sound Classical
  • Queen tribute concert
  • Summer Sunset Half Marathon
  • Peak summer beach atmosphere

For families looking for community events and carnival fun, the latter part of July and early August is usually the best time to catch carnival-related activities and duck races.
